So it turns out I took a canoe trip via the marina/resort my grandparents owned in the 1950s and 60s. Then I came back to Winnipeg and found a bunch of their old documents, including a letter my grandfather had sent to the Wildlife dept. to have a bird identified (it was a Grey Jay).
these are super nice, i like the indian pipe and moss/lichen thing..looks awesome!!
