I would like to get to a point in my life where I could tell you the names of all of these, but that time is not now...

Went down to the cemetery

Usually I like to let these things speak for themselves, but I have a few comments about these things. These things...

Symbolism and the roles symbols play, the meaning of symbols as a universal explanation

This is a grave I once visited by accident. Set apart in the Ukranian section of the cemetery, it stands significantly removed from all other graves in the plot. It is hand made, carved of wood, and bears a small metal plaque, hand engraved. On close inspection, one can see the name plate has been carved with some instrument, maybe a screwdriver. I have always been drawn to it and saddened by it--one corpse alone and for eternity marked apart. I wonder why and put flowers that I find by chance on this grave whenever I see it. This time I happened to find a lone and fake flower under a bush just as I was about to see whether this monument was still around. I find it touching. There are no dates.

Years ago I took a photo of this same plot from a different angle. I believe I've included it in a previous post. The daisies here were not growing anywhere else in the immediate area, or anywhere else throughout most of the cemetery for that matter.

When the time given has been so brief, we tend to be very specific about things
and I think that is understandable

This is a view of the infants section of the cemetery.

I particularly enjoyed this late afternoon for the way the sun's rays created a heavily spiritual effect on almost everything I did. Almost Everything...Heavily, Heavenly Spiritual. Yes...

No pains, no griefs, no anxious fears
Can reach our loved ones sleeping here

This type of quotation was apparently very popular in this type of headstone in this general time period. Most of the graves from this period were of the same style and stone type and feature quotations in this style.

This is the Minnedosa cemetery, which I recently visited after an 8 year hiatus from this town. What awful times I lived there and what lasting friends I made. The shaping of self and the love of worthwhile things were worth it, though I wouldn't wish to do it again. Thanks to Jon, for a lot of things, but in this particular case for the use of his camera.
